Now it's time to turn the clock back and inject that sassy, elegant inspiration into your hat world with this workshop.
Be prepared to experience some hat tricks with Lina Stein as she takes you on a magical adventure called "Online & Live Snap-Brim Trilby"
Uniting both men and women, this beatnik fusion of hatting and millinery techniques will take your headwear game to the next level!

Using just one basic crown block, a flat wooden surface, and lots of steam and elbow grease, you'll learn how to transform your millinery felt into a unique and captivating style. As well as making the cool and suave Trilby this package also includes a free tutorial on vintage hat lining. Get ready to charm the world with your new hat!

• The workshops will be split over 3 Zoom sessions : like this we will be able to let our hats dry/settle and you will be able to complete your homework !
  Day one - 2.5 hours
  Day two - 2.5 hours
  Day three - 2.5 hours
• Class participation will be limited to max 8 people to ensure personal attention
• Plenty of question time, online interaction and personal assistance built into the Zoom sessions
• Workshop recording for one week
• Free Vintage Lining stream at a later date

Learning outcomes

• Students will be introduced to the OPEN CROWN HAT CONCEPT (or “Mother-Hat”) and learn about the beauty of millinery felt
  • You will learn how to prepare, stiffen and block your crown and brim by hand using Lina's methods.
• Learn Lina's unique methods to give your brim the snap-down shape without a flange or block. You will learn about retaining tension on your brim edge which is vital in a Man's dress Hat.
• Learn how to give your trilby crown it's individual 'indentation, pinch or groove' by hand
• Lina will share a few different ways to create bows and trimmings that are suitable for men's and ladies hats
• Learn professional felt-polishing techniques
• Make vintage drawstring linings

Course Structure

On securing your place, you will receive an email which includes confirmation, your Zoom invitation, instructions how to use Zoom, list of materials and equipment necessary for the workshop plus workshop prep instruction.
There will be 1 workshop session per day.
