This Lina Stein workshop is ideal for all levels incl. those with experience in making straw/felt hats and fascinators. 
Through a step-by-step process over the 3 days, you're focus will be on learning to block and flawlessly cover one of Lina's many stylish/vintage percher block with buckram and chosen fabric, plus make a complementary silk flower using alternative Flower making Tools. 
Lina will demonstrate the different ways to secure the hat to your head, such as hat elastic, wire prongs, and bandeau will also be discussed.

  • The workshops will be split over 3 Zoom sessions : like this we will be able to let our hats dry/settle and you will be able to complete your homework !
    Day one - 2.5 hrs
    Day two - 2.5 hrs
    Day three - 2.5 hrs
  • Class participation will be limited to max 8 people to ensure personal attention
  • Plenty of question time, online interaction and personal assistance built into the Zoom sessions
  • Live Workshop recording available for two weeks 
  • Free Vintage Lining stream at a later date

Learning outcomes

  • Learn the art of prepping, blocking using buckram as foundation and covering flawlessly with your fabric
  • You will learn the art of wiring your hat and discuss the use of interfacings to create that stunning finish
  • Silk flower making using a fusion technique, petal pattern design, and learning to curl and cup the petals before assembling the flower and attaching it to the hat.
  • Positioning and attachment to your head.
  • Make vintage drawstring linings

    Course Structure

    On securing your place, you will receive an email which includes confirmation, your Zoom invitation, instructions how to use Zoom, list of materials and equipment necessary for the workshop plus workshop prep instruction.
    There will be 1 workshop session per day.
